Why study Arabic? What are the benefits?

Although we are not Arabs, but the benefits are quite large if we want to learn Arabic.

Here are some reasons why we should take time to learn Arabic.

First:
The virtue of the Arabic language is very clear because Arabic is the language of Al-Qur’an Al-Karim. Quite the reason this is a big reason why we should learn Arabic. The specialties of Arabic are mentioned in the Qur’an more than ten places, among them in verse,

“We have made for men in this Qur’an every kind of parable so that they may learn. (Is) the Qur’an in Arabic that there is no crook (in it) that they may be cautious. “(Surah Az-Zumar: 27-28)

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taimiyah rahimahullah said,

“Arabic is the syi’ar of Islam and the syi’ar of the Muslims.” It is mentioned in Iqtidha ‘Shirath Al-Mustaqim.

Second:
By studying Arabic easier to memorize, understand, teach and practice the contents of the Qur’an. With Arabic capital will be easy also in understanding the hadiths of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, memorize, explain and mengamalkannya.

Third:
People who understand Arabic, especially understand kaedah-kaedah in science nahwu will more easily understand Islam than do not learn it at all. Moreover, if one’s duties as a messenger, a da’i, kyai or ustadz, would be more urgent to learn it in order to easily provide a true understanding of religion in the crowd.

Fourth:
People who understand Arabic will easily dig knowledge from scholars directly or read the various works of scholars who have been widely spread to this day. While those who do not understand Arabic language can only rely on the translation and it is limited.

Fifth:
Arabic is a gentler and more heartfelt language, and reassures the soul.

Ibn Kathir when explaining the letter of Joseph the second verse states,

“Because Arabic is the most eloquent, clearest, broadest (vocabulary) language, and contains the most placid meaning of the soul.”

Sixth:
Arabic is the noblest language.

Ibnu Katsir rahimahullah also stated,

“Since the Qur’an is the most glorious of the books, it is revealed in the noblest language, taught to the most glorious Apostle, delivered by the most glorious angels, sent down in the most glorious place on earth, descended also in the glorious moon the month of Ramadan. From all sides of it, we can judge how noble the holy book of the Qur’an. ”

“We have sent it down in the form of the Qur’an in Arabic, so that you may understand it.” (Surah Yusuf: 2)

Seventh:
Arabic is a straight language, easy to understand and easy to use as a law for humans.

God declares himself,

“(It is) the Qur’an in Arabic that there is no crook (in it) that they may be cautious.” (Surah Az-Zumar: 28)

In another verse mentioned,

“And verily the Qur’an is truly revealed by the Lord of the worlds, he is brought down by Ar-Ruh Al-Amin (Gabriel), into your heart (Muhammad) that you become one among those who give warning, with clear Arabic. “(Surat ash-Shu’ara: 192-195). As mentioned in Zaad Al-Masiir by Ibnul Jauzi, the Qur’an is revealed in Arabic, the language of the Quraysh, which everyone understands easily.

Also in another verse mentioned,

“And thus, We have derived the Qur’an as the (true) rule in Arabic.” (Surah Ar-Ra’du: 37). Mentioned in Tafsir Al-Jalalain, Arabic is used as a law in the midst of humans. In Zaad Al-Masiir mentioned that Arabic can be used to explain the mandatory laws.
